Canadian Book Clubs

So, I know the title of this post sounds like the start to a bad joke, but I came across as article from The Globe and Mail that talks about a group of retired women in Ontario who have chosen to compress their book club into three meetings a year.

Note that I'm NOT advocating a change (book club is a monthly highlight for me, of course), but thought you might find the article interesting. Also note that the average number of books read per month by this club's members is eight, which I guess is what happens when you retire and live in Canada . . .

Apparently this reports comes as part of some sort of "series of profiles of Canadian book clubs," so I will be sure to stay on top of the book club scene north of the border and report back.
